About us
Fiber of Maine provides you with the best of Maine yarns, from artisan to mill-spun, as well as the handcrafted supplies you need for your fiber projects.
Who we are:
Helen Sahadi has owned Heavenly Yarns, a downtown Belfast, Maine yarn shop since 2003. A knitter since age six when she walked into a Brooklyn, New York yarn shop on her own and asked to be taught to knit, Helen is passionate about knitting. She came to Maine to attend college in the late '70s and felt like she had come home. The inspiration for Fiber of Maine came to her on a snowy day in December 2015.
Liz Deane moved to Maine in 2002 and learned to knit soon after learning to spin her own yarn. She's a photographer, potter & all-around crafty lady who is our voice on social media. Follow her at @fiberofmaine on Instagram.
We are constantly searching for Maine-grown and -dyed yarns and fibers that may be new or unique to you. We love Maine, and the unique contribution that Maine makes to the fiber world. With our experience in retailing yarn and supporting products, we think you will love what Fiber of Maine will bring to you.
