Snefnug (“snowflake”) is a super soft, light, airy but thick yarn entirely made from natural materials in a luscious blend of 55% baby alpaca, 10% extra fine merino wool, and 35% cotton. This yarn is manufactured at an Italian family-owned spinning mill where the environment and animal welfare are taken into account, which of course means that the merino wool is mulesing free.

Snefnug has a cotton mesh tube as the core with a luscious blend of merino and baby alpaca blown into it, making it a hard wearing but super soft and exclusive yarn. It is soft enough for baby and children’s knits as well as adult knits such as sweaters, cardigans, scarfs and hats.

Snefnug is bulky weight yarn with a needle size of 5-6mm (US 9-10 needle; H-J hook) as the recommended needle size and a recommended gauge of 12-16 sts and about 24 rows per 10 cm./4".  Each skein is 120 yds /50 g.

Handwashing the finished project and laying flat to dry is recommended.  It is also recommended to knit ribbing a bit tighter as it may stretch in use, but come back to shape after washing.

We knit the Frank & Bean Cowl using one color each of charcoal grey and golden and a US 8 (5mm) 16" or 20" circular needle.

We also knit Harley in Snefnug - an updated classic that is sure to be a cozy favorite!

AMAZING! Like a delicious cotton candy

Ok . . .what I really mean to say is that this yarn is wonderful to work with. So nice and fluffy. It's super soft to the touch and it gives this very nice warmth without overheating me. The stitch definition is wonderful, it has a bit of a hallow which hides any inconsistencies in my stitches. I was amazed at how great it looked after blocking it. You can't skip this step. LOVE THIS YARN ! ! !

Comfy cozy yarn

It was perfect. Soft, light yarn bit incredibly warm. I used it on a hat. Knitting with it was a dream
